Persecution came quickly from his family and neighbours
Algeria
Algerian newspapers often have articles about the growth of Christianity in Algeria. Some take a neutral stance while others oppose Christianity very firmly.
Here is an example of how some young men became Christians through a newspaper article. It is the testimony from a young couple in Eastern Algeria, where there are many Christians:
Two young men from our city read about the new Algerian churches in Kabylia near the capital, Algiers. These young men decided to go to Kabylia to find out more about Christianity. After travelling all night by coach (bus) they finally arrived exhausted in the large city of Kabylia. The men asked a taxi driver for information about Christians in the city and he took them to a church. It was there that they had their first contact with the gospel. The leaders of the church made contact with us to help the young men get to know Christ better. After the men came back to our town we met with them. Following several encounters we eventually saw that the Holy Spirit was definitely at work in their lives. They came to Christ and a third person, one of their friends, soon joined them. Praise God!
Note: The discussion about the status of Christianity in Algeria has gone all the way to the National Assembly and the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The latter affirmed that freedom of worship is assured for all Algerians according to the constitution. Even so, house groups and churches are under surveillance.
Boubacar
Boubacar came to know The Messiah Jesus several years ago. His walk with God has been both difficult and typical for the Songhai people of West Africa. Persecution came quickly from his family and neighbours. He was forced to move from his home, and many people in his village refused to give him work because he was a Christian. Many others who have faced the same situation have abandoned their faith and returned to Islam, but not Boubacar. He has stood firm for Jesus Christ. He recently baptised both his brother and his wife, and he soon hopes to see his children following Christ. He has become a bold witness and travels each week to several surrounding villages to proclaim the gospel to others.

Here’s some more reports:
“An Algerian policeman and his daughter announced they have emrbaced Christianity…” (see http://www.answering-islam.org
A Kabyle woman of algeria was tormented by an evil spirit. she tried the muslimp prayers, and they didn’t work.so she went to a christian meeting where she heard the Gospel. She and her family became believers! Praise God!
More reports from Algeria:
Certain Christians wonder why God allows persecution to happen to His children. The persecution of Christians is a thing that God alone can allow or not allow. In these difficult moments, we should pray to God to reveal His will to us. I am going to tell you what happened to me. This will serve as my testimony. My church was closed because the owner of the building no longer wanted to rent the room. We were forced to separate and meet in small groups in our homes. I organized a Bible study and prayer meeting in my house. This attracted the attention and curiosity of my neighbors who came, suddenly, to attend [one of] meetings. They were very surprised by the words of Jesus when we read Matthew 5:44 where Jesus said, “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you….” One of my neighbors testified to us, “I waited [for you to] utter curses against the authorities that persecuted you. But to my surprise I heard you bless them and pray that God would open the eyes of their hearts to recognize that Jesus is the unique Savior of the world.” That day the Spirit of the Lord touched those two families that participated with us in the Bible study and prayer. These ten souls would not have dared ever to come publicly to the church—fear and shame would have prevented them. Because we are neighbors, they said, “Indeed, it is the church that came to us!” They gave their hearts to the Lord. The number of [house] churches [here] increases day to day. We thank you for sending us the radio programs. Pray for us that we may discern the will of God.

There are also supernatural demonstrations, direct interventions in the life of persons who ignore everything of Jesus. At the conclusion of a worship which I made in the community of a Kabyle town, a young lady came to see me. She was a Moslem and it was the first time which she attended a Christian meeting. She suffered from oppression, a voice came to torment her day and night for weeks, saying that the child whom she carried in her breast (it waited for a happy event) was going to die and that her two other children were also going to die. She made her traditional prayers without result. In the week, she had a vision. A man in white was held in front of her and he says to him: ‘ I am a Jesus, and me, a Jesus, I say to you: be not afraid, but am I! ‘ She thus came spontaneously, she thus attended this worship, she was conquered in succession by the Lord; I learnt a while later that she and all her family were converted.
May Christ give grace to these New brothers. God bless.
