There are about 220 Muslim peoples around the world with over 100,000 members each, and these peoples have no local committed Christian witness. In addition, there are no known believers who are specifically planning to take the Gospel of the Kingdom to them. A short list of some of these peoples is on this page. In addition there are huge numbers of Muslims peoples where there is a small Christian witness, but the Muslims still have never heard the Gospel in a meaningful and culturally adapted way. This is true of millions of Arabs in the Middle East as well as millions more in Africa and Southeast Asia.
Jesus said, “This Gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come” (Mt. 24:14). The end of the age and the dawning of God’s new world will not come about before all people from different religions and cultures have had an opportunity to hear and to respond to the message. On this prayer site we have made a significant effort to focus our prayers on unreached peoples without neglecting Muslims in more visible and well known settings.
Muslim Populations
- Africa – 400 million
- Middle East – 250 million
- Asia – 800 million
- Europe – 25+ million
- Americas – 5+ million
- TOTAL = 1.48 billion
The figures above give the approximate numbers of Muslims in various regions of the world. In the last 50 years probably no more than one or two million Muslims have come to saving faith in the Messiah. Some people might give a somewhat higher figure. Whatever the real number, it is relatively small, and a breakthrough is needed.

Muslim people in southeast Africa are coming to Christ in droves because of God’s love and the miraculous
Hello Dear Ron and the 30-days prayer team,
every time I read your posts it seems the fire in my heart is fanned more and more. I can’t wait to finish my studies and be out there serving these lovely people.
God sure works in mysterious ways, and when we let him have his way, the desires of his heart become the desires of our heart.
Thanks for the great work.
I used the information in question and referenced the 30 Days site in yesterday’s article at http://www.smyrnaministries.org. Thank you!
The church leaders here have provided prayer guides in our congregation, and we are using them this month in our weekly Bible studies and prayer meetings. The prayer guide is wonderful in reminding us to focus our prayers at this time.
God bless
In today’s reading (in the prayer guide), you mentioned 220 unreached people groups of 100,000 or more people and told us to get the complete list on the website. I found 27 listed.
Where can I get a PDF of a complete list? 220 is almost a full year of prayer if I pray for one group each day.
Ma, the reference in the booklet refers to the “Muslim Peoples” section of the site. Under all the country categories, we have prayer articles on 220 unreached people groups, actually more.
Under the statistics section I have listed some of the major countries and so forth, but we decided to not try to categorically list unreached people groups since we, as mission agencies, are now finding different ways to help different mission groups engage different people groups. (Examples are un-targeted, un-churched, via language groupings, whether or not bible translations are planned, what radio / TV saturation may or may not be useful, and a host of other dynamics.)
The research we did for the AD2000 movement and the Joshua Project and several others is still available to list people groups, but eventually we found the research was not so much of interest to the majority of Christians as we had hoped. Most evangelical mission orgs we work with are still using the data but trying to find more creative ways to engage the average Christian, regardless of culture.
So, that is probably much too long and detailed an answer than you wanted.
The real answer is, if you were to go through the whole 30-days.net site, you have at least a page of information per day for the whole year!
Keep praying!
God bless
