Sara put her faith in Christ last December 2006 after her brother Sam shared the Gospel with her over the phone. Sara never went to church, never read the Bible, never talked to another Christian and as far as we know, never listened to Christian radio and never saw Christian TV. Yet she was persecuted by her family. They sent her to a correction camp to learn the Koran and bring her back to Islam. We do not know exactly what happened except that she refused to be a Muslim again which led to her death. We did not have an opportunity to teach Sara as communication was cut off soon after she accepted Christ. Please pray for her brother Sam who at this point, can never return to his country. His father has threatened to kill him.

How sad that Sara was killed by deceived individuals. It should never have happened. Why should followers of Jesus refuse to fast? The month of Ramadan is a great time for lovers of Jesus to fast and pray. She may have received some unwise teaching about taking an adversarial position on this issue. May the Lord give abundant grace and wisdom to followers of Jesus everywhere to navigate these difficult issues.

I am deeply saddened over the death of Sam's sister Sara. Sam is a young man from the Middle East who was visiting Burkina last year. I had the privilege of leading him to Christ November 2006. Because of his conversion, he stayed in Burkina to go to school. Over the phone, Sam led his sister Sara to Christ last December. She was experiencing persecution from her Muslim family because of her conversion and had recently been sent to a 'correction camp' in Chad to change her ways and learn the Koran. Since it is the month of Ramadan, Sara was expected to fast, go without food and water during the day for a month. Because she refused to fast, Sara was shot and killed on Thursday, September 20th, most likely because of her faith in Christ. Sam's mother telephoned him on Thursday to give him the sad news and is very angry with Sam for sharing Christ with his sister and blames him for Sara's death. His mother said she would never forgive him for becoming a Christian and for sharing Christ with Sara, which led to her death. Only 22 years old, Sara was force to leave her 3 small children, the youngest, a 6 month old baby boy.

Please fervently remember Sam in your prayers at this time. I am praying that Sara's father and husband would deeply regret sending her to that 'correction camp' which led to her death. I am praying that the whole family would receive dreams and visions of Jesus and come to Christ. Rev. 12:11
Note: names have been changed for protections sake.
